BOWLING GREEN, Ky--With such a winter storm heading our way, it may be a good idea to stay indoors this weekend.

Kentucky State Police are encouraging drivers who do not have to be out in the possibly severe weather to stay home off the roads. For those who must travel KSP gives you some friendly tips on how to stay safe on potentially slick roads.

"If you are going to be traveling, once again make sure you have extra time to allow for that travel. Also, if you follow other vehicles you want to make sure you do three times the distance that you would normally do on regular traveling conditions due to the fact that in case there are some ice on the road ways or some snow, it gives you adequate time to stop your vehicle so you don't hit the other car from behind", says Trooper Biven with KSP.

Shane says it's highly likely the roads will freeze over and people should prepare for those potential conditions.
