They perform a dangerous job, and one that may not always have a happy ending, but firefighters risk their lives to save others and it doesn't go unnoticed.
Eight firefighters were recognized Wednesday for rushing inside two burning homes last year to save family members trapped inside.
For their acts of bravery, Todd Napier, Burt Stinson, Norman Simpson, Jerry Stahl, David Newman, Mark Page, Dustin Rockrohr and Mike Tibbs were honored by the state.
"This is our job and we try to think of it like that." Todd Napier says his job can be very rewarding, but he does not consider himself a hero. "Without the entire department, recognition like this would not be possible. We are a team and we work together."
