The rising gas prices, along with food costs are forcing a Meals on Wheels program in central Kentucky to change its business.

The company that delivered the daily meals to senior citizens in Elizabethtown stopped the service last week after 15 years.

Now instead of coming once a day, the company ships the meals in large boxes that are difficult for some seniors to move.

One state representative says the situation isn't ideal, but hopes the economy can rebound and the delivery program can return.

This is a good opportunity for the area churches to step up to the plate and take over their own Meals On Wheels so their seniors and disabled don't have to eat that over cooked budget effective stuff. Nothing is seasoned. The veggies are cooked to death. Everything is soft so the toothless can consume it. How about some real food, boys?
