Governor Ernie Fletcher is on track to be released from the hospital on Wednesday.
Fletcher's doctors say the governor is doing much better since he was hospitalized February 12 and had gallbladder surgery a few days later.
But it's been more than a week since he's shown a significant fever and doctors are optimistic two more days in the hospital are all he'll need.
It could be two weeks after leaving the hospital before Fletcher gets back to his regular work in Frankfort.
First Lady Glenna Fletcher says he has been communicating with staff by phone and Email on such topics as the seat belt bill and the Louisville arena.
He is close to being able to take regular foods and today he even exercised in a hospital workout room.
