Eight-year-old Kallie Hart was diagnosed when she was nine months old. She's allergic to soy, milk, eggs, peanuts, bananas and more.
Her mother says it's a daily struggle to make sure Kallie has food that won't cause a reaction. Kallie is vigilant about what she eats, but sometimes longs for food other kids her age get to have.
A support group for families dealing with food allergies began meeting this past January. FEAST, which stands for Food, Education and Allergy Support Team, meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Medical Center's Health and Wellness Center in Greenwood Mall.
The next meeting will be a week from tonight, March 7. For more information, call 745-0942.
