UNICEF estimates there are as many as 133 million orphans worldwide.

It's usually much harder to find adoptive parents for the older orphans, but one group is taking on the challenge, trying to find homes one child, and one summer vacation, at a time.

We first met Zach and Angela Smoot a year ago.

They had fallen in love with Nian Hui, a five-year-old Taiwanese orphan who spent the summer with them as part of a program through Kidsave.

Kidsave finds homes for orphans between five and 15-years-old, older children from around the world who are typically harder to place.

Kids come to the U.S. for a five-week stay while potential parents get to know them.

"Are you ready to go ice skating?" asked Angela.

Nian went back to Taiwan.

The Smoots then started months of paperwork to formally adopt him.

"We're about to see him for the first time!"

They chronicled their journey from Warrenton, Virginia all the way to Taiwan, and back again.

"It's amazing,"

"He remembered us. He had all of his stuff from last summer. It's just been amazing."

The Smoots can finally call Nian their son.

As their story ends, many others begin.

Just this weekend a new group of kids arrived in the Washington-area to meet their American hosts.

"Our plan is to try to keep things simple to start because just the language itself can be exhausting for them," said host parent, June Naus.

"We just thought it was a good opportunity to give a kid a chance."

A chance at the life they've always wished for, one with a loving family, something Nian and the Smoots have already found.
