The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club is kicking off plans for the 2002 US Bank Balloon Classic. The classic will begin July 19 at the Warren County Regional Airport. Sixty hot air balloons will compete in three races for cash prizes totaling $25,000.
Organizers say last year the event raised $250,000 for local charities. This year proceeds will benefit Girls Inc., The Boys and Girls Club, and Charities of the Kiwanis Club.
The headliner of this year's event is country music singer Darryl Worley. There is no admission charge to go to the event. Parking is free on Friday and $10 after 2 p.m. on Saturday.
