U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing for passage of the Gas Price Reduction Act.

At a press conference with Senator Bob Corker, Senator McConnell said the Senate has not addressed what he called "the number one issue in the country," high gas prices.

"So we are looking at, as Senator Corker pointed out, for a narrowly crafted proposal that almost everybody agrees would make a difference," stated McConnell.

"It needs to make a difference. And no one believes that if you don't have at least some element, and the American people now believe this overwhelmingly, some element of credible increase in domestic supply, it's probably not worth doing."

McConnell said the Gas Price Reduction Act has 44 co-sponsors.

He also said it's theme is to "find more, and use less."

I am barely "middle class", I feel we all pay too many taxes, but if I get rich, I don't think it is far to have to pay a higher % tax than before. One of our founding fathers ( can't remember who) said, "we will not make a distinction between any man, rich or poor, we are all the same". I want to scrap our confusing, unfair tax code and replace it with a simple flat tax of one low rate with no deductions or special interest loopholes. Also if I was rich, i'd give it to my kin, not campaigns. Many rich people started out poor, does obligate them to pay more tax than the rest of us? lemme think, ahhh, err NOT.

For the sake of all affected by gas prices, I sure hope this is more than "lip service". Until the fat lady sings, we'll never know.

FINALLY, it's good to hear that an elected official is trying to help the working class instead of giving more tax breaks to the wealthy. We need more politians who will work for ALL the people and not just the ones who can contribute to their campaigns.
