Area kids are getting their chance to be a part of the Bowling Green Police Department.

For three days this week, BGPD is having a Junior Police Academy for children ages ten to 13.

Not only does the camp give kids something fun to do during the summer, ten-year-old Hunter West says he's gotten hands on experience doing some of the things a police officer does everyday.

"We've been doing a CSI investigation," he said.

"We learned how to match fingerprints, shoe prints and other things."

Officer Barry Pruitt says the kids are also learning about their K9 units and Critical Response Team, among other things.
