Boaters are advised not to anchor near Wolf Creek Dam in Russell County.
An unusual water release contributed to a boat capsizing Thursday morning.
A Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife officer says a Russell County father and son were thrown into the water around seven that morning.
43-year old Jeff Fugate and 17-year old James Fugate were in the water for about 45 minutes before being rescued.
They were taken to the hospital where they were treated for hypothermia and released three hours later.
Wright says if they hadn't worn their life preservers, they would not have survived.
