The Kentucky House and Senate have approved a bill that allows the posting of the 10 Commandments in local government buildings and schools.
In 2002, Grayson County officials were forced to remove the 10 Commandments from their courthouse walls after the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit and won, claiming such documents violate the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Now Governor Fletcher must sign the bill.
Supporters say this is a major victory for the community and religious leaders who have posted nearly 200 copies of the 10 Commandments in Grayson County business windows and alongside major highways.
