Belters and crooners alike converged on Louisville this week, trying to make their voices heard the loudest over the other American Idol hopefuls.
Thousands showed up for the auditions at Freedom Hall yesterday for a round that will determine who gets to see Simon, Paula, and Randy in September. While there, we caught up with a few area residents who gave us a taste of what they hope to bring to the show.
It's 3:30 a.m., but the city of Louisville isn't exactly asleep. Even among the masses, there's a few familiar faces.
"Being a vocalist, it's always been a dream of mine and what better time than the present?" says Bowling Green Idol winner Shera Lawrence.
"I want to make millions and this is an easy way to do it," laughs Bowling Green High graduate John Moore. "So, they were in Louisville. I'm in Louisville. We're in the same place right now. So. Let's get it on!"
It's time to warm up those voices, and as the sun rises, so begins a day of big crowds, big personalities, and big voices.
These contestants say there's nothing to be nervous about as long as they remember the words.
"The nerves haven't kicked in," says Burkesville resident Lindsey Huff. "They may the closer I get to the line."
No matter what happens, everyone's definitely auditioning in style.
"It's always a good way to get your name out there, regardless, and it's always good to have more audition experience," explains Bowling Green native Keith Bishop.
