Governor John Lynch has declared a state of emergency and is dispatching the National Guard to Central New Hampshire to respond to damage caused by tornadoes and severe weather Thursday morning.

The state of emergency is for Belknap, Carroll, Merrimack, Strafford and Rockingham Counties.

The state Emergency Operations Center in Concord is open.

Gov. Lynch is inspecting the damage.
