A bill signed by Governor Ernie Fletcher will help track organ donors.
The plan would create a database of volunteer organ and tissue donors.
Kentucky has an option for residents to become future donors on the back of drivers licenses.
But the information has not been stored electronically, preventing medical organizations from recording committed donors.
Each year, Kentucky has about 100 organ donors, 300 tissue donors, and 500 corneal donors.
Officials say between 600 to 700 people are waiting for an organ or tissue donation.
