Monday's protests against a crackdown on illegal immigrants aren't limited to the nation's biggest cities.
Several hundred people have gathered in Lexington, Kentucky to wave American flags and signs that read "We were all immigrants once."
Several thousand people also have been marching through downtown South Bend, Indiana.
Hundreds in North Carolina planned to skip work or boycott purchases to demonstrate the spending power of the Hispanic community. In Charlotte, some Latino bosses encouraged the job walkouts.
In Texas, activists who drew hundreds of thousands to rallies in Dallas yesterday are also calling on Latinos to stage an economic boycott. Demonstrations are expected today in Houston, El Paso, and Austin.
