Sunday afternoon ten students went exploring the vast woods on the property of Great Onyx Job Corps.
Acting Job Corps Director, Kenny Brown, says: "Job Corps is for students 16-24 years old. This center had capacity for 214 students. Its residents live on campus. They can get their GED or high school diploma and learn one of seven different traders."
The two groups split up and each believed that a 16-year-old girl was with the other. They are not releasing her name because she is a juvenile. When the two groups met back up, they realized she was missing and reported it to the Job Corps around 6:45pm Sunday.
The Mammoth Cave Park Rangers immediately began searching the area, but had to cease searching when night fell.
Vickie Carson, Mammoth Cave spokesperson, says: "On Monday morning the search resumed. We called in a group called in a group called TRACER. Dog search teams as well from Bullitt County and one from Hardin County."
Monday Kentucky Army National Guard helicopters performed an aerial search. Tuesday morning shortly before 11 p.m., they were able to find the subject. She was in good health and taken to the hospital for observation.
