A Bowling Green man is flown to Vanderbilt Hospital after being injured in a wreck on Scottsville Road this morning.

Kentucky State Police say the wreck happened just before 10:30.

KSP says the driver of a tractor-trailer southbound on Scottsville Road tried to make a u-turn from the right lane.

The driver said he didn't see a box truck in the left lane, which tried to avoid the crash, but ran into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

"The driver of the box truck was trapped for over an hour, while Alvaton and Bowling Green Fire Departments were finally able to extricate him from the vehicle. He's been transported by Air Evac to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville," said Terry Alexander, KSP.

KSP says 35-year-old Paul Watkins of Bowling Green suffered multiple injuries.

Vanderbilt says Watkins is in stable condition.

Paul is doing well. He had another surgery this morning. I'm not sure when he will get to come home. It's going to be a long recovery. The staff at Vandy have really boasted about how polite Paul has been especial for the pain that he has. Todd I will let him know that you are thinking about him. Thanks again.

Good to hear that Paul is doing well. I worked with him for a few years and hope that he makes a full recovery!

Paul is doing well at Vandy in the ICU. He a has a break to his lower right leg that is going to take a couple of surgeries to correct. When we arrived at the ED the joker played a prank on Mom and his wife. When they walked into the room he looked at them and asked, "Who are you?", after a few seconds told them he was kidding. He is very sedated for pain control, but his eyes lit up when we told him how many people came to see him and was calling to check on him. Our family is greatful for EMS, Fire/Rescue, and AirEvac for their care of my brother. Treatment and extrication are expected, but these men and women went above and beyond that task by just keeping him informed and being there. Thank you! Thank you!
