Barren County Sheriff Deputy, Wayne Branham, says: "Well around 3:30 this morning I received a call that there were three juveniles that had been reported as runaways from Barren County from a group home."

Those three boys, ages 15, 16 and 17 managed to make it all the way to Louisville and yet neighbors say they were never even warned they had escaped.

Junior Jent is a concerned neighbor. He says"The first time I heard about it is when you told me. And that's not right! They don't know they could've been over here hiding in one of my buildings or one of the neighbors buildings or anything."

In November of 2005 neighbors rallied to try to stop the home from opening. The operators of the home said the home would only house kids who had been taken away from their parents in emergency situations and that it was not a home for troubled teens. After a town meeting the owners promised the house would be strictly supervised and that the house would have state-of the art security.

Jent says: "All the security they were supposed to have with the bars and the alarm system, I wonder if they don't have them turned on or just don't have them at all."

When WBKO went by the house we saw no signs of a security system and one window had the screen cut out of it.

Deputy Branham says: "I just saw the front door. And it was just a front door. I didn't see any security at all to be honest with you."

Deputy Branham says he tried to contact the operator of the home but she never returned his calls. When WBKO tried to contact her she said she couldn't comment on the story because the boys are underage.

For those that live near the group home, they worry about what might occur the next time something like this happens.

Jent says: "It makes you wonder do we have to wait for some really bad event to happen for something to be done about it?"

Another concern the neighbors we spoke to had was that two of the teens were over age 15. When the house opened, the operators assured the community the home would only house children between the ages of 10 and 15.
