Looking For Love: Part III

Bob Arnold climbed online six years ago, and finally found Donna Duvall earlier this year. But she wasn't on a dating site.

She had only posted her profile, and spent most of her time in a Kentucky chat room. "I have just got so many friends in there. It's unreal! Had some really low times in the past couple years and I talk on mic a lot. My troubles and worries and I've cried, literally cried, and they've cried with me. They have sent me their blessing and their prayers. And a lot of people that just go to these off-color rooms, they don't realize the people I am involved with, what good people they are. And they're my family."

Bob Arnold hit the internet just looking to pass the time, but he soon found folks with whom he's made lasting relationships.

He has this advice for other "baby boomer's wanting to slip into cyber dating. "If anybody's gonna have any success at all, they've got to have a picture on their profile. You have to have. I think people want to know what you look like beforehand. That's just human nature, to see if they think you're gonna be compatible or anything."

"But I think the psychology behind it is, we are human and we all want to reach out to others, to connect with people and I think that's a normal thing to do," says marriage and family therapist, Vera Pruitt. "I think that's what's going on here, and why people do this."

But there are still some people who don't think the internet is a good place to meet people.

"They don't understand, says Donna Duvall. "'Why do you get on that computer and talk to those people?' They don't realize how good it can be, if you find the right home, and 'kentuckychat28' is my home!"

Vera Pruitt says more women than men date online, because women are more social and talkative, and their stronger desire to connect helps them overcome any apprehensions.

But you should still be very careful online. Here are a few rules:

1. Do not give out your address
2. Do not share your home phone number
3. Meet in a public place
4. Drive yourself or take a cab
