A South Central Kentucky man is now behind bars facing murder charges after fleeing from police.
68-year-old Willie Paul Grant was taken into custody over the weekend in Adair County.
He is facing charges for the murder of 46-year old Rex Coffey who was shot while sitting with family and friends at a picnic shelter at Beech Grove Baptist Church on Saturday.
Coffey was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
Adair County Sheriff's Department attempted to pursue him soon after the shooting, but after an extensive search was unable to locate him until the next morning.
Grant is lodged in the Adair County jail.
