Governor Ernie Fletcher announced plans today to call lawmakers into a special session that would begin next week.
Fletcher says lawmakers appear close to reaching an agreement on a plan to give small business tax relief. He says if that agreement is reached by tomorrow, he would call them into a special session on June 22.
Senate President David Williams says he thinks negotiators from the House and Senate have nearly agreed on proposed legislation.
He says the session would likely take about five or six legislative days.
The issue was created by last year's state tax code overhaul. Small businesses with high revenues but low profit margins have claimed the change made them pay more in taxes.
