The state police says 14 people were killed on state roads and highways during the holiday weekend.
Preliminary data indicates alcohol played a factor in three of the 14 crashes. Police said seven of the victims were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Nine people were killed during the holiday weekend last year.
According to police, 450 people have died on state roads so far this year. That's 27 fewer than reported over the same period in 2005.
