Couple Gets 35 Years for Sexual Abuse

July 3, 2005 Joey Dale Fields led police on a 100-mile-per-hour chase up and down I-65. The chase ended when he surrendered after a two-hour standoff at "Britthaven Retirement Home" on Scottsville Road. Police later discovered Dale and his wife had a horrible history of abusing a family member

Warren circuit judge Steve Wilson read all 40 counts against Joey Dale Fields including rape, incest, sodomy and complicity to sodomy, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading police, and tampering with a witness when he tried to have a third party get the victim to back off her story.

Fields pleaded guilty to all 40 charges and is to be sentenced to 35 years in prison. His wife, Cheryl Lynn Fields, pleaded guilty to incest, sodomy, and complicity to incest, sodomy, and rape. She will also be sentenced to 35 years in prison. Neither of them will have a chance at parole until they have served 20 years.

The couple will be sentenced August 28.
