Spa Lake Dam in Logan County is leaking and is in desperate need of repair.
The small leak was first noticed in November, following Hurricane Katrina. Officials say it started in a sink hole and is now leaking at a rate of more than 100 gallons a minute. Some are worried the dam could fail and send flood waters into nearby neighborhoods.
The dam was built more than 40 years ago to provide water for local residents and to lure Logan Aluminum. The company is one of the town's largest employers and it depends on the water supply for manufacturing.
The city has asked several state and federal agencies for financial help, but so far, it hasn't received any.
City officials have also asked the USDA to conduct a study to see what would happen if the dam broke. They are still waiting on the report.
