There are only days left until November 4, and as the U.S. senate race intensifies, Bruce Lunsford rallied in Bowling Green Friday with some high-profile support.

Bruce Lunsford and former president Bill Clinton took the stage around 1:30 p.m.

Lunsford's message of the rally was a promise to improve the state's economy in addition to reaching out to the middle class.

"This has been the most rewarding experience of my life," Bruce Lunsford told the crowd. "I think I can say easily, after having walked parades from Pikeville to Paducah that I've met more people in twelve months than Mitch McConnel's met in 24 years in Kentucky."

Friday afternoon, over 1,000 people waited in line outside an airport hangar for a glimpse of the event inside.

"Former president Bill Clinton was giving a speech with Bruce Lunsford," says one young onlooker.

While some eagerly anticipated their first glimpse at a US president, some longtime Democrats say they hope Clinton's appearance is a boost to Bruce Lunsford's campaign against 24-year incumbent Mitch McConnell.

"They're definitely going to re-energize ways that haven't been in Kentucky for a while," says one rally observer. "We're really excited about the party's mobilization."

"I think that's going to be very important to getting young people interested in state elections," adds another. "Sure, we're interested in presidential elections, but very rarely do kids turn out to statewide elections or congressional elections. I think he'll be key to changing that."

"We just definitely need a change in politics," small business owner Gail Robinson explains. "We need the Democrats to take the lead and create jobs in Kentucky."

"We're going to help small businesses," Lunsford added to the crowd. We're going to help the middle class. We're going to get health care under control. We're going to get government spending under control cause it's time for a change."

Others who appeared at Bruce Lunsford's rally included second congressional district candidate David Boswell, lieutenant governor Daniel Mongiardo, state house speaker Jody Richards, and former governor Martha Layne Collins.
