The autopsy, which was performed at the state medical examiner's lab in Madisonville, revealed 32-year-old Tommie Curtis Pridgen was shot several times by a handgun.
The Kentucky State Police have not recovered a weapon and currently have no suspects.
KSP says robbery could be a motive in the slaying because Pridgen's wallet and cell phone were both missing at the crime scene.
According to the Montgomery County, Tennessee Circuit Clerk's office, the black male was arrested in June of 1997 and later convicted on multiple drug charges.
Pridgen's body was found Monday afternoon around noon by a man spraying the cornfield for weeds.
