The third and final co-defendant in the 2004 murder of a cave city gift shop employee changes his plea to guilty.
Veronica "Bonnie" Rothwell was shot to death on November 13, 2004 at Abner's Gift Shop in Cave City.
17-year-old David "Mikeal" Alvey was scheduled to go to trial tomorrow.
But yesterday afternoon Alvey pleaded guilty to complicity to murder, robbery first degree and tampering with physical evidence.
Kentucky State Police say Alvey and two other teens robbed the store the night of the murder and destroyed evidence of their crime before dividing the proceeds.
Nathaniel Wright had already pleaded guilty to shooting Rothwell.
Aaron Boles had already pleaded guilty to driving the other two teens to the store with the intention of robbing it.
The Barren County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office says Alvey's final sentencing date is set for August 14.
