After the Bowling Green Police and Fire Chiefs announced their retirements back in May, the city names interim replacements.
Lt. Col. Jerry Wells was named the interim police chief. He has 30 years of experience with the bowling green police department and 32 years total.
Lt. Col. Wells says he hopes to have at least three applicants from
with-in his department apply for the position of chief.
Deputy Chief Walter Jordan was named the interim chief for the Bowling Green Fire Department. He has 28 years of experience with the department.
Jordan says there are several projects in the works that he looks forward to continuing.
The two will serve as chief of their respective departments until new ones are named.
Applications will be accepted for the positions until August 7th. A written test will be given to applicants on September 13 and 14th, with an oral board review on October 23 thru the 26th. Then on November 21st recommendations will be given to the Bowling Green City Commission.
The two say since they have accepted the interim positions they will not be able to apply for the jobs.
