Now, the race is on to purchase a converter box or risk being left in the dark.

"We really anticipate in January, we will have a very large run," says Linda Vetor, General Manager of Camping World in Bowling Green.

"I think a lot of people are waiting till the last minute," she adds.

With several locations across the city selling-out of boxes, Camping World says they are well-prepared for the demand. With a truck arriving every week, Vetor says the location on Bluegrass Farms Boulevard has at least 50-units on hand.

Furthermore, if by chance inventory runs low during the holiday season, management says they have a back-up plan.

"One of the things about our location," says Vetor, "Is our warehouse is just a few miles down the road. So, if we anticipate running out, we can go ahead and get some more."

As far as those who will be needing to purchase a converter box, "Only if you have the old analog style televisions, that are receiving analog off-air signals from your local broadcast television stations," says Don Hanks, Service Technician at Camping World.

Furthermore, service personnel, such as Hanks, offer a lending hand to anyone needing extra help completing installation of their converter boxes.

"We can review what they have, what it looks like, and where things are at. We can take a look at the instructions with them, if they like," adds Hanks.

With the February deadline looming for the national DTV conversion, as mandated by the FCC, it was not hard to find customers looking to purchase a converter box.

"We plan on getting one before February," says William Popps, a Direct-TV subscriber, "Just so we will not lose our televisions (signal)."

He adds, "If it don't work on the Direct-TV, we will have to get the box," referring to WBKO, which does not transmit to satellite subscribers.
