Now to Sasha and Malia's big move.

There are still 62 days to go before President-Elect Obama and his family officially make their home at the White House.

His two daughters are already exploring the terrain at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

With Mom and Grandma in tow, Malia and Sasha Obama have begun their own transition to Washington, checking out some of the schools they might enroll in in just a few months like Georgetown Day School and Sidwell Friends, the private school Chelsea Clinton attended.

But their most important visit was to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue where First Lady Laura Bush invited the girls to come see their new bedrooms upstairs in the family quarters.

It's rare to get an invitation to the personal living space of the President and his family. In 1977, Betty Ford took Barbara Walters on a tour of the family living room, the small family dining room, and the private family kitchen.

And Diane Sawyer joined George and Barbara Bush on a secret balcony off the second floor residence.

And none of the Presidential families have to live with White House antiques. They get to bring their own furniture and the Obama daughters will get to decorate their bedrooms as they want.

"The house is theirs. It is their space. If they want to paint the walls fuschia that's their decision"

And there are kitchens - official ones downstairs, and a private family one on the second floor and while the Obamas, like all Presidential families will have to pay for their own food. The staff orders and shops for the food at a different grocery store each time for security reasons.

And finally the Obamas will get to eat meals together every night . Like the Carters seen here in their private dining room.

No one will see them walking around in their pajamas, even the Secret Service stays out of the family quarters.

And children in the White House always bring a different kind of delight, especially on holidays. And a new snowfall - something any White House staff clearly looks forward to.

Children at the White House add a different diminsion. There are other activities. They are bringing friends in and are having pizza parties.

President Elect Obama's inaugaration is January 20th.
