Top executives from the automobile industry went to Capitol Hill for a second straight day to appeal for a government bailout.

Top democrats say the government should hand over 25-billion dollars from the wall street bailout fund.

Opponents of a bailout say the carmakers should declare bankruptcy and reorganize their businesses.

A Republican proposal is now gaining steam to give the automakers immediate access to 25-billion-dollars already approved for high-efficiency vehicles instead of from the 700-billion-dollar Wall Street bail-out.
