PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) -- The food crisis in Haiti is blamed for the deaths of at least 26 children in the past four weeks in just one region.

All were severely malnourished. Another 65 starving children are being treated and aide workers fear the toll will rise much higher if help does not come quickly.

In pockets of Haiti, meager supplies of food have been cut even further by a series of devastating storms that destroyed crops, wiped out livestock and sent food prices spiraling.

Ten emaciated children are under emergency care at a makeshift malnutrition ward set up at a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders. One boy who weighs less than 20 pounds is five years old. His limbs are little more than skin stretched over bones. Doctors have been feeding him a diet of enriched milk, in hopes of saving his life.
