Captain Tony Chism, of the Warren County Sheriff's Department, suffered a shoulder and rib injury, along with scrapes and bruises.
Chism was taken hostage for three hours after he and three other deputies tried to serve a felony warrant to 27-year-old Matthew Griffin on a charge of flagrant nonsupport.
Other officers directly involved in the exchange of gunfire that occurred were Officers Cameron Taylor and Robert Hansen with the Bowling Green Police Department, and Deputy Maxie Jones with the Warren County Sheriff's Department.
Officer Taylor received no injuries, but a round did penetrate through Officer Hansen's pant leg, hitting his ankle and exiting through his shoe.
Deputy Jones was slightly injured due to a fall during the incident.
Matthew Griffin is lodged in the Warren County Jail for charges of Kidnapping 1st Degree and Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.
His bond is set at one-million dollars.
