Local artists have come together to bring awareness to all the arts and entertainment this area has to offer.
Representatives from nearly a dozen performing arts groups were on hand for a news conference Tues. Aug. 8, 2006, at the capitol, where Executive Director Mike Thomas unveiled a new agency called ASK, which stands for Arts of Southern Kentucky.
ASK is a collective group of performing and visual artists, presenting organizations, civic agencies and cultural institutions that meets monthly to foster an appreciation for the arts in Southern Kentucky.
In appreciation of South Central Kentucky's local arts ASK will host Arts A La Carte, Mon. Aug. 28, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Arts Center.
ASK Arts a La Carte is a showcase of performing artists such as: Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra, Fountain Square Players, Dance Images, Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra, Public Theatre of KY, Capitol Arts Youth Theatre, Kaleidoscope, Greenhouse Poetry and VSA arts.
Following the performances a collection of area visual artists will be on display from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. at the Gallery at 916 State Street, and before the performance the Gallery will also be the location to register to win a collection of door prizes from participating arts groups that will be given away during the night's events.
ASK Arts a La Carte is a free event. General admission tickets will be available at the door one-hour prior to the event or can be picked up in advance at the Capitol Arts Center box office from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning Aug. 14, 2006.
