Emergency Management Director Tony Richey won't speculate as to how the fire started early Friday morning in Barren County, but he says the building is a total loss.
There are still several hot spots the crews are trying to put out before an investigation can take place.
Auctioneer John Tarter says he's been working at the Glasgow Farmer's Livestock Market for 30 years.
He's really surprised the building went down. He says it has a lot of brick and cement, but when he saw the scene, he knew the agriculture community was in for a shock.
Tarter says the stockyard brings in about $1 to $2 million a month to Barren County and surrounding communities. Also, Barren County is ranked among the highest in the state for cattle and beef.
Tarter says this is the only one in Barren County.
