It was an emotional morning at the Fort Knox army base Wednesday. More than 100 Marines returned home after being involved in the war with Iraq for more than five months.

Family and friends cheered Wednesday morning at the Fort Knox homecoming event. One hundred and thirteen members of the eighth tank battalion of Reserve Company "A" returned home after serving with Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Marine unit was a part of Task Force Tarawa. They secured bridges through Nasiriyah and some helped with the rescue of P.F.C. Jessica Lynch. Many of the Marines say they are happy to be home and will spend the July Fourth weekend with their families.

Fort Knox's Marine Reserve Unit landed back on United States at the Marine Corps Base Camp in LeJeune, North Carolina on June 22 for tests and briefings. The battalion returns home at full strength suffering no casualties during the deployment.
