MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) -- A state fire official says two people are dead and two are injured after an early morning blaze at a home in southeastern Kentucky.

State Fire Marshal William Swope says the blaze in Middlesboro was reported at 5:30 EST Friday morning. He says his office sent investigators to the scene.

Middlesboro Fire Department Capt. Joe Asher says the blaze at the one-story home is out, but firefighters are still at the scene. He says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
