Plano native Dean Moore served for 28 years as a mail carrier in the South Central Kentucky Area. Moore, known as "Mean Dean" to her route patrons and fellow carriers received numerous awards during her tenure, including:
-Kentucky State President of Rural Letter Carriers' Association
-National Rural Letter Carriers Delegate
-Rural Letter Carriers Local and Assistant State Steward

Dean and her husband Odell used to run the Plano Store, and have been active members in their church over the course of their 51-year marriage.

Dean was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 1997, and retired from her mail carrier post shortly afterward. Now, she says she loved every minute of her life, and wouldn't change a thing even if she could. "Be nice to everyone," is her life motto, and one the community of Plano will not soon forget.
