Many Bowling Green residents woke up early this MLK Day to pay tribute to the civil rights icon.
The 12th Annual Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Breakfast was held at Girls Incorporated today.
The program, sponsored by the MLK Junior Planning Committee featured a keynote address from Reverend Porter Bailey of First Baptist Church in Rockfield.
Speeches at the breakfast swayed between remembrance of King and support for President-Elect Barack Obama.
"This is a country as a people we're coming together to celebrate it that way. Whether you're young, old, male, female, every ethnic background. This is a historical moment for the United States of America, and we're just elated to be part of it", explained Judy Jewell with the MLK Planning Committee.
More than 100 people attended this morning breakfast.
