State police will begin extra patrols and checkpoints tonight in an effort to catch drunk drivers during the Labor Day holiday.
Police say they the action will begin at midnight and last for 24 hours. The goal is to have no alcohol-related traffic fatalities.
It is part of a multistate initiative that includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Kentucky State Police Commissioner Jack Adams says its an opportunity to save many lives.
