New research shows that chubby toddlers face a good chance of becoming overweight later in life.
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development's findings shoot down the belief that kids just naturally outgrow early pudginess.
Children overweight at age two were five times more likely to be overweight at age 12 than youngsters who weren't overweight early on, and 60 percent of the children who were overweight during the preschool years were overweight at age 12.
The study is being published in September's issue of "Pediatrics."
