It's National Assisted Living week and Grandparent's Day kicked off the week long celebration.
This morning residents at the Bowling Green Retirement Village were decked out in patriotic colors in remembrance of the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The residents sent red, white, and blue balloons into the skies in hopes that someone will find a deflated balloon with an address in their yard and write back.
The farthest the balloons traveled last year was about 50 miles and Bowling Green Retirement Village employees said they received five responses from people around the area.
Events at the Bowling Green Retirement Village will be held all week ending with a karaoke finale.
The Bowling Green Retirement Village said it's important to remember the elderly since they carved our history with so many memorable events.
