LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Four eastern Kentucky men have been sentenced to prison on federal vote-fraud charges.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that U.S. Attorney James Zerhusen's office says Knott County Judge-Executive Randy Thompson was sentenced this week to 40 months in prison. Two deputy judge-executives were also sentenced. John Mac Combs was ordered to serve 36 months and Phillip Champion 18 months. County employee Ronnie Adams was sentenced to 32 months.
The men were convicted of participating in a plan to win votes for Thompson in the November 2006 election by using taxpayers' money to improve private property.
