BG City Commission Takes Up Construction, Housing Issues

At its meeting on Tuesday, the Bowling Green City Commission delayed their vote on an updated anti-discrimination-in-housing law, and allotted more money for an oft-delayed construction project.

An ordinance on the agenda Tuesday would update the current local anti-discrimination-in-housing law to reflect language already being enforced under federal law. Because of questions and concerns raised by citizens, the commission tabled a vote on the issue until after an informational session scheduled for next Tuesday night, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.

The Commission also voted to allot an additional $86,000 for the Cave Mill Road widening project, a project plagued by weather-related delays. Commissioners were told the project is still waiting for a period of five consecutive dry days to allow the soil to dry out, so that it can be paved.
