An Army soldier from Kentucky who fled to Canada rather than return to Iraq asks for leniency.
Army Specialist Darrell Anderson spoke to reporters shortly before he planned to surrender to the military. Anderson says he deserted the Army last year, because he could no longer fight in what he believes is an illegal war.
Anderson had been living in the Toronto area and was a highly visible war critic and spokesman for Canadian peace groups.
He faces a charge of desertion.
