Hundreds of men and wmen will be waking up at the crack of dawn and packing up their rifles Saturday. It's the start of Kentucky's modern gun deer hunting season.

Deer hunters from all over the bluegrass state are expected to hit the fields this month and help control the deer population. In Kentucky the Department of Fish and Wildlife has designated 39 counties as zone one counties.

Those are areas where we need to reduce the deer population. In South Central Kentucky counties that have an abundance of deer are Christian, Todd, Logan, Allen, Adair, and Taylor County.
