Winter Weather Outlook

Consumers will spend less to heat their homes this winter, that according to some energy analysts.

Last year heating bills, and especially natural gas bills, were abnormally high due to Hurricane's Rita and Katrina, which devastated large parts of the gulf coast and severely disrupted oil and natural gas production.

But this year, with supplies high and wholesale low, some industry analysts say we could save around 10% or more on our home heating bills.

"Variables of weather and economy make it hard to predict actual cost, but we're optimistic prices will be lower than last year."

With cooler weather just around the corner, here are some important tips for you: remember to replace the filter in your furnace, consider having a heating professional check your heating system to ensure optimal performance and discover minor problems before they turn into costly major repairs, seal all duct work, lower your water heater to 120-125 degrees and lower the thermostat when away from home for several hours.
