A recent survey of over 1,000 households shows 35% of Americans say stress is a major problem in their lives. The survey was conducted by Hale Dwoskin, a best-selling author of stress relief books.

While stress is inevitable, experts say you can treat it. They recommned you spend at least 30 minutes a day for personal time. You should try to relax and do something you enjoy. Some examples include exercising, gardening, talking a walk, or simply relaxing at home.

If left untreated, stress can build up over time and contribute to medical complications such as stroke, heart attack, and high blood pressure. For more information about how to recognize and treat stress, you can visit the National Mental Health Information Center online at www.mentalhealth.org.
