Skate park enthusiasts and supporters were out Oct. 21, 2006, to help raise money for Bowling Green's upcoming skate park.
A board/inline/BMX competition and fundraiser was held to help raise money for lights and other amenities for the upcoming skate park.
"We just decided to take it upon ourselves to go ahead and start fundraising, because the city's kinda all up in the air whether more funds will go into it or not," said Nathan Curry, who helped with the skating event.
Raffle tickets were also available to those that attended the event with giveaways including an ipod, a bike, a skateboard, karate lessons and more.
Bowling Green's more than $700,000 skate park began construction in August 2006.
At that time it was scheduled to be open by late October or early November.
