Preparing for the Flu

The sooner you get it, the better off you are. But, you may have to wait a few weeks to get your flu shot.

"Our supplier is running about three weeks behind in distributing the vaccine. We don't anticipate a shortage, just a delay in receiving the vaccine," said Julia Davidson, clinical director.

Some vaccinations will arrive this week at the Barren River District Health Department, but don't plan to get one just by walking through the front door. They're on a first come first serve basis, beginning Oct. 25, 2006, only for those who have an appointment.
But, that won't be your last chance.

"I anticipate that we should be receiving them, the remaining doses, in November. I think we should be fine for this flu season," Davidson said.

Even if you can't get your shot until December or January, health officials say you're safe. Flu season doesn't peak until February.
